CCU aims to recruit the following positions for a Mental Health project in Uganda. The Obstacle Race Against Stigma and Shame (ORASS) program is an learning sports programme combining mental health education and physical exercise for children and young people, with the aim of reducing mental health stigma and shame, and also providing safe and effective ways to manage good mental health. In four phases, ORASS will deliver a classroom and obstacle course based curriculum to 10-24 year olds in schools both in the Kyaka II refugee settlement and the wider Kyegegwa district.

Program support:

  • Support the roll out and implementation of the ORASS project and appropriate mental health and psychosocial activities, including MH PHC integration, MHPSS screening.
  • Support the development and implementation of the ORASS project curricullum

Standards and principles

  • Ensure that all MHPSS work is in keeping with IASC guidelines on MHPSS support in emergencies.
  • Promote global guidelines such as IASC MHPSS guidelines where appropriate opportunities arise
  • Ensure and promote complementary and holistic coordinated community based MHPSS programming compliance with CCU’s MHPSS approach and ORASS project proposal

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Develop and employ consistent, standardized tools for monitoring and evaluating processes and outcomes of CCU ORASS project.

Reporting

  • Regular reporting and updates to CCU and preparation of reports.

Qualifications

  • University degree in psychology, mental health, or related field.
  • The qualified candidate will be a mental health professional (psychologist, clinical social worker, psychiatrist, or psychiatric nurse) with professional practice experience in clinical mental health
