The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is inviting qualified candidates to apply for the position of Associate Project Officer (P-2), based at its Headquarters in Paris, France.

This is a one-year Project Appointment under the Social and Human Sciences (SHS) Sector, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and available funding. Key Responsibilities & Required Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project implementation across multiple countries and liaise with local teams and authorities.
  • Conduct policy analysis, develop action-oriented reports, and prepare capacity-building tools.
  • Support project events, meetings, and workshops including advisory and coordination group sessions.
  • Assist with project monitoring, reporting, communication, and partnership building.
  • Contribute to scaling up project activities and integrating them within UNESCO’s Inclusive Policy Lab.

Required QualificationsEducation:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Social and Human Sciences, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least two years of relevant professional experience, including one year at the international level.
  • Experience in project management, policy research, and working with multi-country or EU-funded projects.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with diverse stakeholders and produce analytical reports.

Languages:

  • Excellent knowledge (spoken and written) of English or French, and a good working knowledge of the other.
  • Knowledge of another UNESCO official language (Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, or Russian) is an asset.

Competencies:

  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments.
  • Proficiency in standard IT tools (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
