The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is inviting passionate, driven, and globally minded individuals to apply for a unique internship opportunity supporting its Women at the Centre initiative—a worldwide effort dedicated to strengthening and harmonizing gender-based violence (GBV) case management systems. As GBV continues to impact millions of women and girls across the globe, this initiative plays a critical role in improving response mechanisms, enhancing coordination, and ensuring survivors receive the care, dignity, and protection they deserve.

Set to run for 24 weeks, this full-time remote internship offers aspiring development professionals an invaluable chance to engage with global programming while contributing to a transformative mission. The selected intern will work closely with the Programme Specialist for GBV Response, supporting knowledge management, learning spaces, and global coordination across regions.

About the Role

This internship sits at the heart of UNFPA’s work to improve GBV response and strengthen practitioner networks worldwide. As part of the Women at the Centre initiative, the intern will help build and maintain a global repository of GBV case management tools, promote cross-regional learning, and support the development of digital communities that empower frontline actors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing digital learning resources and systematizing multilingual content
  • Supporting Community of Practice (CoP) sessions, including webinars, workshops, and peer-learning exchanges
  • Organizing south-south knowledge exchanges and maintaining online engagement channels
  • Assisting with programme documentation, follow-up activities, and country-level updates
  • Preparing notes, drafting summaries, and contributing to reporting cycles
  • Supporting translation needs, particularly in English and French, to ensure accessibility across regions

The intern will work directly with several country teams, helping gather field insights, track progress, and ensure seamless implementation of activities. This role provides a rare opportunity to interact with UN experts, field practitioners, and global partners—all committed to strengthening GBV case management systems.

  • Tag, review, and upload documents in multiple languages
  • Support Community of Practice (CoP) activities and virtual learning events
  • Maintain online communication channels and track member engagement
  • Assist in reporting, documentation, and follow-up processes
  • Coordinate translation and support French-language content where needed
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Women at the Centre programme

Expected Outputs

By the end of the internship period, the intern will contribute to:

  • A fully structured, multilingual GBV resource repository accessible to global practitioners
  • Quarterly usage updates and platform performance summaries
  • Comprehensive notes and summaries from CoP activities and country-level engagements
  • Consolidated reports from participating countries showcasing programme progress
