The UNAIDS Internship Programme offers meaningful exposure to the organization’s technical, programmatic, and operational work. Interns are placed across various divisions depending on their academic background, skills, and interests. Internships may be conducted in person or remotely, allowing flexibility depending on the needs of each hosting division.

The programme strongly supports gender balance, as well as geographic and socioeconomic diversity, encouraging applicants from all backgrounds—especially those from under-represented countries or communities.
A stipend may be provided to candidates who are not receiving any financial support from other sources.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 20 years old at the time of application.
- Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate programme at a recognized institution or have completed their degree within the past 12 months.
- Have a good working knowledge of at least one official UNAIDS/WHO language: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish.
- Must not have previously completed an internship with UNAIDS.
- Must not have immediate family employed by the UNAIDS Secretariat.
Applications from people living with HIV and from women and nationals of under-represented member states are strongly encouraged.
