In crisis zones across the world, millions of children are denied the safety, stability, and future that education provides. Education Cannot Wait (ECW) — the UN’s global fund for education in emergencies — is changing that narrative. This year, ECW is building a roster of Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Interns, offering a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of humanitarian action, data, and global education.
Hosted by UNICEF, ECW supports children and youth affected by wars, disasters, and protracted crises. As an intern, you will help shape how evidence, data, and learning drive better education outcomes for the world’s most vulnerable learners.
What You Will Do
Under the supervision of ECW’s M&E team, interns will support the design, analysis, and communication of results from ECW-funded programmes. Your work may include:
Contributing to ECW’s Annual Results Report

Supporting Learning & Knowledge Sharing
– Conducting research, literature reviews, and mapping exercises
– Designing interviews, focus groups, and learning exchanges
– Producing learning briefs, blogs, presentations, and other materials
Strengthening ECW’s Data & Information Systems
– Managing databases and tracking tools
– Supporting rollout of ECW’s new information management platform
– Ensuring alignment with M&E processes and data standards
You may also engage in a mid-term independent project aligned with ECW’s mission.
Who Can Apply
You must:
✔️ Be at least 18 years old
✔️ Be enrolled in or recently graduated (within 3 years) from a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme
✔️ Have a background in education, humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, or related fields
✔️ Have strong qualitative/quantitative analysis skills (Excel required; R, STATA, PowerQuery, Kobo are a plus)
✔️ Be proficient in English; French/Spanish are assets
✔️ Be able to work remotely during Geneva/CET hours
ECW strongly encourages applicants with lived experience in low- and middle-income countries and welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds.
Location & Conditions
- Remote (standard) — with optional office space in Geneva or New York
- Full-time, 35 hrs/week | Flexible schedule
- Duration: 5 to 6 months (26 weeks)
- Stipend: USD 1,700/month for Geneva, New York, Copenhagen . Elsewhere: 70% of GS-3 Step 1 salary in the duty station
- Start date: February–March 2026
- Five interns will be selected.
