Who Can Apply?

You’re eligible for the UNIDO Internship Programme if you meet any of the following:

  • You are currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree
  • You are enrolled in a Master’s or postgraduate programme
  • You completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree within the past 12 months

Language Requirements

Fluency in the working language of the duty station is required.

Important: Applicants must be citizens of UNIDO Member States and meet the eligibility criteria at the time of application.

Internships are offered both at the UNIDO Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, and in field offices worldwide.

What You Can Expect as a UNIDO Intern

Duration

  • Typically 3–6 months
  • Up to 12 months for sponsored internships

Start Date

  • Begins on the first day of the month or the next working day if it falls on a weekend or official holiday

Stipend

  • Starting September 2025, interns will receive a monthly stipend to support living costs at their duty station

Expenses & Support

  • Interns are responsible for their travel, accommodation, visa, insurance, and personal expenses
  • UNIDO provides a support letter for visa applications
  • Interns are not authorized to travel on official UNIDO business

While the internship does not guarantee employment, former interns are encouraged to apply for open roles. Many UN organizations—including UNIDO—recognize the value of internships when evaluating experience for entry-level positions.
