The World Health Organization (WHO) is hiring a remote Gender Specialist to support the GEF Building Resilience of Health Systems in Pacific Island LDCs to Climate Change project. This is a powerful opportunity to advance gender equality, climate resilience, and health adaptation across Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
What the role is about:
You’ll lead a full review and alignment of the project’s Gender Action Plan, ensuring it fits WHO’s gender analysis framework. The consultant will help each country develop context-specific Gender Action Plans that strengthen women’s empowerment, gender-responsive health systems, and climate adaptation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Conduct a comprehensive gender analysis
✔️ Review and revise the project’s Gender Action Plan
✔️ Develop gender action plans for 4 Pacific countries
✔️ Tailor WHO’s guidance to national realities
✔️ Provide technical support, indicators, and roadmaps
✔️ Integrate gender equity across planning, delivery & reporting

Who can apply:
- Degree in gender studies, development, sociology, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 5+ years in gender mainstreaming, women’s empowerment, sustainable development
- Strong experience with gender analysis, gender indicators & action plans
- Experience working with governments, communities & multi-country projects
- Excellent analytical, communication & facilitation skills
- English fluency required
Contract & Pay:
- Remote
- Payband B: USD 7,000–9,980/month OR USD 350–499/day
- Duration: 60 days over 4 months
