DW Akademie is on the lookout for a talented, English-speaking Editor (f/m/d) with a sharp focus on social media to join their dynamic team. This exciting role, based on a one-year limited employment contract, is set to begin on 1 December 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The Role: Challenges and Impact
The successful candidate will be a pivotal part of the editorial team, tasked with significantly strengthening DW Akademie’s digital presence. The position demands a blend of creativity, journalistic skill, and strong communication prowess.
Key responsibilities include:
- Content Strategy & Creation: Developing innovative concepts, formats, and compelling content to boost DW Akademie’s visibility across its social media channels.
- Community Management: Actively managing and nurturing lively, constructive exchanges on platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and Bluesky.
- Editorial Production: Writing and editing texts, as well as producing and editing videos for social media, the website, publications, and newsletters.
- Project & Topic Development: Contributing to the selection and planning of topics and the development of formats for various projects and events.
- Communication & Support: Leveraging strong communication skills to advise and support DW Akademie’s media development projects. The role also involves supporting the preparation of decision papers and reports for the Managing Director.
Essential Qualifications
Candidates should possess a relevant university degree (journalism, communication/PR, or related areas) and demonstrable professional experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent journalistic skills and long-standing experience in an editorial office or public relations, specifically with a focus on online journalism and social media.
- Proven experience in social media management and video production.
- High creativity and strong conceptual skills, including experience in developing and implementing communication campaigns.
- Strong intercultural skills and a proven ability to thrive in diverse, interdisciplinary teams.
- English skills at native speaker level are mandatory, with German language skills being a distinct advantage.
- Bonus qualifications include experience in development cooperation, familiarity with DW’s content management system (CMS), and software skills in Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing and Photoshop.
