Main Responsibilities
During the internship, participants will support the daily operations of the Sector by assisting with coordination, research, communication, and event organization. Key tasks include:
- Drafting notes, letters, and proposals for submission to Member States, Programme Sectors, and potential partners.
- Conducting research and analysis to support briefings and bilateral meetings.
- Assisting in the preparation of reports and documentation for statutory meetings such as the General Conference and Executive Board.
- Providing timely and accurate information in response to queries from UNESCO delegations, partners, and stakeholders.
- Supporting the organization of meetings and events to ensure smooth execution.
- Updating the PAX intranet and website with relevant news, publications, and event information.
- Carrying out any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for this internship, applicants must:
- Be at least 20 years old at the time of application.
- Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent) or have recently graduated within the past 12 months.
Note: Applicants who hold only a bachelor’s degree and are not enrolled in further studies are not eligible.
- Have a strong command of English or French. Knowledge of the other language is an asset.
- Possess solid computer skills and be comfortable using office software.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills, and be able to adapt to a multicultural work environment.
Applicants for technical or assistant-level internships must be enrolled in a specialized technical or professional institution and be in the final year of study or have recently graduated (within the last 12 months).
Benefits and Conditions
UNESCO internships are non-remunerated. Interns are not financially compensated, but they are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month. The experience offers invaluable professional exposure, mentorship, and international networking opportunities that contribute to long-term career growth.
