VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) is a not-for-profit organisation that believes volunteering is one of the most powerful and practical ways to fight poverty and inequality. For decades, VSO has been creating lasting change by connecting skilled volunteers with local communities — working side by side to empower people in some of the world’s most fragile regions.
At VSO, the goal isn’t to send aid, but to build resilience — supporting people to shape their own futures. Through its Volunteering for Development (VfD) approach, VSO puts the most marginalised at the heart of its work, nurturing active citizens who drive sustainable, community-led change. This people-first philosophy ensures that progress continues long after a project or grant ends.
