A Unique Opportunity in Uzbekistan

Are you passionate about education and ready to make a lasting impact? VSO is currently recruiting an English Language Adviser to support the education system in Uzbekistan. This is a remarkable opportunity to share your expertise, inspire teachers, and strengthen English language education in a country that’s investing deeply in its youth and future.

As a VSO volunteer, you’ll work hand-in-hand with local educators and institutions, supporting both teachers and secondary school students. You will:

• Coach and mentor Uzbek English teachers to enhance classroom practices.
• Lead professional development workshops focused on innovative, student-centred learning.
• Deliver engaging lessons and model effective teaching methods.
• Help improve English proficiency for both teachers and students.
• Promote international best practices that raise education quality nationwide.

By sharing your skills, you’ll help empower teachers to teach with confidence — and students to learn with enthusiasm. The ripple effect of your contribution will continue long after your placement ends.

Who Should Apply

You might be the ideal candidate if:

• You’re passionate about education and believe in the power of English to open global opportunities.
• You hold a degree in education and have classroom teaching experience.
• You have (or are willing to work towards) TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or DELTA certification — though equivalent relevant experience is also welcome.
• You enjoy mentoring other teachers and have excellent communication and facilitation skills.
• You thrive in cross-cultural environments, showing flexibility, respect, and patience.
• You’re committed to volunteerism, inclusion, and community-led change.

What You’ll Receive

VSO ensures that volunteers are supported throughout their journey.

• You’ll receive a local living allowance, paid in the local currency, covering reasonable in-country living expenses.
• Accommodation is provided, though it may be basic, reflecting the realities of working with some of the poorest communities in the world.
• You’ll also benefit from ongoing training, guidance, and the rich experience of working with a global network of volunteers and development professionals.
