The Internet Society has officially launched the Youth Ambassador Program 2026, inviting young leaders from around the world to apply for one of the most respected youth leadership initiatives in the Internet governance ecosystem. This annual program empowers emerging changemakers to gain the knowledge, networks, and exposure needed to influence policies and contribute to a secure, open, and globally connected Internet.

Eligibility Requirements
Applications for the 2026 cohort are open to individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Aged 18–30 at the time of application
- Strong English reading, speaking, and writing skills
- Comfortable with public speaking and presenting positions
- Reliable Internet access and appropriate equipment for online sessions
- Able to dedicate at least 4 hours per week over the 12-month program
- Available for weekly webinars and meetings held between 11:00–16:00 UTC
- Able to travel and hold a valid passport
- Have not previously been selected as an Internet Society IGF Ambassador, IGF Youth Ambassador, Youth@IGF Fellow, or Youth Ambassador
Selection Process
The selection process takes place in two phases:
1. Online Application
A selection committee—comprising Internet Society staff, alumni, and community leaders—reviews all submissions. Candidate information is anonymized to ensure fairness. Applicants are evaluated on their alignment with the Internet Society’s mission and their demonstrated commitment to an open and secure Internet.
2. Internet Governance Online Course
Top-scoring applicants are invited to participate in an online Internet governance course. Participants are divided into three classes, each supported by a dedicated tutor. After course completion, the 15 highest-rated students are selected as Youth Ambassadors.
Program Experience
Youth Ambassadors are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to influence Internet policies and drive positive change. In addition to training and mentorship, ambassadors attend a major Internet event tailored to their preferences and regional context.
