Beifang Mining Technology Services (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for 10 Blasting Assistant positions at the Rössing Project.

Purpose of the Job
To support safe and efficient blasting operations by assisting with blast-site preparation, explosives handling, charging, stemming and related field activities under the supervision of the Blaster.
Key Performance Areas
- Assist with blast-site preparation, demarcation and blast-hole checks.
- Assist with the preparation, handling, loading and offloading of explosives and blasting materials.
- Support the charging and stemming of blast holes under the supervision of the Blaster.
- Identify and report abnormal blast-hole conditions and other safety concerns.
- Perform spotting duties and assist with other blasting-related field activities as required.
- Maintain good housekeeping and comply with explosives regulations, mine standards and SHEQ requirements.
- Participate in required safety meetings, training and on-the-job development.
- Work effectively with the blasting team and follow instructions from the Blaster and Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- 12 certificate (20 point minimum)
- Code B/BE Driver’s Licence will be an added advantage.
- Open Pit Blasting Certificate will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- Experience in large open-pit mining as a Blasting Assistant will be an added advantage.
- Previous blasting and explosives-handling experience or knowledge will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic knowledge of blasting activities and safe explosives handling.
- Good safety awareness and ability to follow procedures and instructions.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an operational mining environment.
- Willingness to complete required induction, safety and on-the-job training.
