About the role
Provides safe, courteous and timely transport of patients, staff, documents, specimens, medication and supplies, and cares for hospital vehicles. Often the first and last point of contact with patients.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming environment for all internal and external customers
- Transport patients, staff and visitors safely to and from destinations as authorised
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections (fuel, oil, water, tyres, lights, brakes) and report defects timeously
- Greet clients courteously and serve with a positive, professional attitude
- Collect and deliver laboratory specimens, pharmacy items, blood products, documents and supplies per handling instructions
- Keep vehicles clean and ensure they are serviced on schedule with current licences, insurance and permits
- Listen to and address client concerns to the best of your ability, escalating where necessary
What you’ll need
- Form V / BGCSE or equivalent.
- Valid Botswana driving licence (minimum Class B; Class C1 desirable)
- Valid first-aid or defensive-driving certificate (desirable)
- Minimum of 2 years’ proven driving experience with a clean record
- Good knowledge of Gaborone and Botswana road networks and traffic laws
- Public Service Vehicle (PSV) permit (desirable)
- Experience in a hospital, courier or passenger-transport environment (desirable)
