Key Responsibilities (Summary)

  • Drafting and editing high-quality communications products, including news stories, impact stories, press releases, op-eds, speeches, and newsletters.
  • Leading promotion and news coverage for major UN-Habitat events, especially the World Urban Forum (WUF).
  • Conducting extensive editing, including rewriting and restructuring texts for clarity and conformity with United Nations editorial standards.
  • Providing capacity-building advice to other UN-Habitat staff on improving the quality and style of written outputs.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in communications, journalism, media, visual storytelling, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in writing, editing, or content development, with a strong background in creative and visual storytelling.
  • Language: Fluency in English is essential.
  • Nationality: Must be a national of a country other than Kenya (as this is an International UN Volunteer Specialist position).
