JOB OPENING: STUDY NURSE (4 POSITIONS)
The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) with support from Malaria Action
Plan for Districts (MAPD) seeks to hire suitable candidates for the position of STUDY NURSE to conduct antimalarial therapeutic efficacy studies. The successful candidate will be based at any one of the following sites namely Arua, Busia, and Kanungu district.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for patient randomization to treatment
2. Oversight of the welfare of patients
3. Issue transport reimbursements to study patients
4. Work with Clinicians to manage the daily operation of the study clinic, ensuring clinic
opens Monday-Sunday from 8:00am-5:00pm, when on duty
5. Participate in screening participants into the study
6. Triaging participants and taking vital signs during screening and other clinic visits
7. Schedule and review routine patient appointments and assist in identification of
missed visits
8. Ordering of drugs and other clinic supplies, keeping stock of drugs and other clinical
supplies
9. Administer and manage study and concomitant drugs and maintain all accountability
logs
10. Conduct any needed ongoing participant counseling

1. Participants correctly randomized and treated
2. Appropriate patient management

Qualifications and other desirables for the job:
1. Diploma in Nursing from a recognized Institution
2. At least 3 years work experience in a similar setting and or performing a similar activity
3. Good communication, interpersonal skills and networking skills
4. Integrity and ability to develop a productive working relationship with District Health
Teams.
5. Ability to operate in a fast and diverse environment
6. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the study areas is a MUST (Arua, Busia, and
Kanungu districts).
