The United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples (UNVFIP) is now accepting applications from Indigenous representatives to participate in two major upcoming UN events:

• 25th Session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII)
  Date: 20 April – 1 May 2026
  Location: New York, USA

• 19th Session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP)
  Date: 13 – 17 July 2026
  Location: Geneva, Switzerland

This call is a unique opportunity for Indigenous individuals and organization representatives to engage directly with international mechanisms focused on Indigenous rights.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be:

• Indigenous individuals or representatives of Indigenous organizations
• Actively engaged in promoting and defending the rights of Indigenous Peoples
• Able to demonstrate how their participation will benefit their community’s advocacy and human rights efforts
• In need of financial assistance for participation costs (travel, accommodation, etc.)

Special consideration will be given to applicants from LGBTIQ+ communities and persons with disabilities.

Selection Priorities

Applications will be evaluated based on:

1. Community Representation
   Priority for those with a clear mandate or nomination from their Indigenous community or organization.

2. Relevance to Human Rights
   A proven track record in Indigenous human rights, advocacy, community organizing, or policy development.

3. Impact Potential
   Evidence of how participation will enhance advocacy, build capacity, or contribute to long-term policy change.

4. Demonstrated Financial Need
   Preference for those lacking access to other funding sources.
