VACANCY: POLICE RECRUITS
The Botswana Police Service is pleased to invite applications from suitable candidates for the post of Police Constable. The positions are tenable at various Police establishments around the country.
1. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
All applicants should:
- Be Botswana citizens
- Be aged between 18 – 30 years
- Be physically and mentally fit
- Have no criminal record
- Be of good character
- Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18-25
- Not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and must not fall pregnant throughout the duration of training.
- Not have visible tattoos on their bodies.
2. QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have the following;
a) BGCSE or equivalent with a minimum of 30 points (Best of six subjects with C or better in English) – Diploma, Degree and Masters qualification in the following; Law, Psychology, Health Science, Cyber, Aviation, Languages, Social Sciences, Arts, Business, Information Technology will be an added advantage.
SALARY SCALE:
B.1 P85 500 – P102 120 p/a (Entry)
C.4 P102 312 – P117 528 p/a (During probation)
C.3 P121 920 – P145 704 p/a (After confirmation)
LEAVE: 20 working days per annum

All applicants will undergo selection process which includes; comprehensive medical examination, security vetting, Aptitude test and Physical fitness assessment.

4. MANDATORY TRAINING
Successful candidates will be required to undergo Police Training for 12 months and serve a two-year probation period (inclusive of training).
5. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
On completion of training, candidates will be expected to carry out the functions of the Botswana Police Service as outlined in Section 6 of the Police Act Cap 21:01 of Botswana Laws:
- Protect Life and Property
- Prevent and Detect Crime
- Repress Internal Disturbances
- Maintain Security and Public Tranquillity
- Apprehend Offenders
- Bring Offenders to Justice
- Duly enforce all written laws with which the Botswana Police Service is directly charged and to generally maintain peace.
6. REMUNERATION, BENEFITS AND OPPORTUNITIES:
- Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee 50%)
- Contributory Pension Scheme for Permanent and Pensionable Staff (Government pays 15% and employee 5%)
- Overtime allowance at 20% of Basic Salary.
- Free housing or housing allowance at 15% of Basic Salary in lieu of housing.
- Electricity and water subsidy.

- A comprehensive Medical examination in accordance with the Botswana Police Service medical standards
- A comprehensive Physical fitness assessment
- Criminal vetting
- Security vetting
- Aptitude tests (written and oral interviews)
