Job Advert Summary

QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine, situated in Karibib, Namibia, seeks to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified Production Manager to join its Mining department. The successful candidate will provide direct leadership and operational support to the open-pit mining operation, ensuring the effective execution of the short – Medium term mining production plan. The role will focus on proactively identifying and removing operational constraints, resolving production challenges, and driving continuous improvement to ensure that production, cost, safety, and people objectives are consistently achieved. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven mining professional to take ownership of production, cost, safety and people outcomes at an established open pit gold mining operation. The position reports to the Mining Manager.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or an equivalent tertiary qualification in the Mining Field.
• A minimum of ten (10) years’ post-graduate experience in an open pit mining environment, including three years (3) in a managerial role.
• Computer Literate in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Powerpoint)
• Expertise knowledge in General Mining packages and Pit Optimization software
• Valid Blasting Ticket
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Knowledge of mining legislation, including the Labour Act 11 of 2007, and safety/environmental management standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and model safe behaviour in line with the Navachab Safety Vision and Values, ensuring full compliance with the Safety, Health & Environment Management System, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Set, drive and manage production targets for drilling, blasting and excavation, ensuring consistent supply of ore to the processing plant in line with the mine plan and CPQQTR principles.
• Coordinate and manage mining contractors and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to service agreements and safe, efficient operational delivery.
• Oversee the execution of the mining production system and plan, including mine development and management of own team’s performance.
• Develop and manage the mine budget, controlling expenditure and allocating financial resources effectively to achieve cost targets.
• Develop and implement the annual labour plan, identify training and skills development needs, and maintain sound employee relations and discipline.
• Maintain effective stakeholder relationships, benchmark best practices, and provide specialist technical advice on productivity, mining efficiencies and cost.
• Maintain robust reporting, monitoring and risk management systems, ensuring compliance with mining legislation, corporate standards and business plans.
