Purpose of the Job

To render a management, engineering support and leadership function in the Planning and Design Section, including compliance to the engineering standards, of the Low, Medium and High Voltage Electricity Network of the City of Windhoek.

Key Performance Areas of the Job

• Supervise the Work/Job activities of Staff members in the section.

• Provide management, engineering support and leadership functions on Planning and Design Section in the Engineering Services Division.

• Provides management in the Planning, Monitoring and Control of Engineering drawings, design updates and upkeep in the Electricity Department.

• Ensure appropriate change of management processes, production and coordination in the Planning and Design Section of the Engineering Sevices Division.

• Ensure compliance with all City of Windhoek standard, quality, legal and contractual requirements.

• Provide management of Electricity equipment, tenders and network simulation software.

• Performs interfacing functions.

Requirement of the Job

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:

BSc/BEng Degree (Electrical Engineering) or B Tech Degree (Electrical Engineering).

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

B Tech – 8 Years post-graduation experience of which four (4) years were in a supervisory role. B Eng/B Sc – 6 Years post-graduation experience of which two (2) years were in a supervisory role.

KNOWLEDGE:

Substation/ Network design, Electricity related Legislation, Council Policies, Tender Procedures, NSI,SABS,NRS and reference to Internal Standards, Electricity Tariffs, Wireman Safety and Licensing, Labour Act.

SKILLS:

Leadership, Interpersonal, Communication, Team Building, Computer Literacy, Decision Making, Problem Solving, Financial, Project Management, Networking, Supervisory and Managerial skills.

LEGAL REQUIREMENT:

Code B/BE Driver’s License;

Professional registration:

Registration as a Professional Engineer or Incorporated Engineer.

Salary: N$870,972.00 pa

Housing Allowance: N$348,384.00 pa

Car Allowance: N$261,528.00 p.a
