Purpose
The primary purpose of the General Worker/Cleaner role is to provide general operational support to ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the branch, warehouse, and retail areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment while assisting with stock handling, housekeeping, and other operational duties as required, also to make sure to deliver daily cleaning services that keep all assigned areas hygienic, safe, and visually appealing. This includes the regular cleaning of furniture, surfaces, and other facilities to maintain a sanitary and welcoming environment. This role plays an important part in supporting customer service and ensuring the branch operates efficiently.
Requirements
- Completed NSSCO/NSSCAS or Grade 12.
- One (1) year experience as a General Worker/Cleaner, or similar role.
- Valid Code B Driver’s License will be an added advantage.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual duties.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials and cleaning machinery, making coffee.
- Good attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high housekeeping standards.
- Basic Electrical knowledge will be an added advantage.
Key Result Areas
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse, retail, office, and yard environment.
- Daily cleaning and sanitise work areas, shelves, floors, ablution facilities, kitchens, and common areas.
- Packing and cleaning shelves and making sure to store cleaning materials in a safe place.
- Assist with loading, offloading, moving, and packing stock.
- Support stock replenishment by moving products from the warehouse to the retail floor.
- Assist with receiving, packing, labelling, and preparing stock for dispatch or collection.
- Support customers by assisting with locating and moving products when required.
- Conduct general housekeeping to ensure work areas remain neat and hazard-free.
- Report damaged stock, maintenance requirements, or safety hazards to management.
- Assist with daily cycle counts and bi-annual stock takes.
Personal
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Must be a self-starter, flexible and energetic.
- Partake in stock takes.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping is a MUST.
