About the job Drivers
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a truck safely and responsibly on local routes within Walvis Bay and surrounding areas
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness
- Load, secure, and offload cargo in accordance with safety standards
- Adhere strictly to designated routes and delivery schedules
- Maintain accurate trip records, delivery documentation, and logbooks
- Report any vehicle faults, incidents, or delays promptly to management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable road traffic laws and company policies
- Maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the assigned vehicle
- Plan routes efficiently to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of goods
- Obtain proof of delivery and required signatures upon completion of deliveries
- Communicate proactively with dispatch/control regarding delays, breakdowns, or route changes
- Ensure cargo is transported securely to prevent damage or loss in transit
- Comply with all applicable weight limits and loading regulations
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of minor vehicle issues where possible
- Ensure fuel levels, tyre pressure, and fluid levels are checked and maintained regularly
- Report for duty punctually and adhere to assigned shift schedules
- Conduct all duties with due regard for road safety and the safety of other road users
- Immediately report any accidents, near-misses, or safety concerns to management
Mandatory Requirements
- Valid CE Driver’s License
- Needs to have special requirement for driving dangerous goods
- Local driving only – no cross-border driving required
- No night driving required – daytime routes only
- One (1) driver will be assigned per truck
- Based in Walvis Bay
- Sound knowledge of the rules of the road and traffic regulations
- Proven safe driving record
- Clean criminal record
- Valid Police Clearance Certificate required
